This small coastal town in the district of Baunei is a real haven of rest on Sardinia’s east coast.
The pure white sand of its beaches, the crystal clear colours of the sea, the slow and relaxing atmosphere you breathe in the shade of its ancient olive trees, the majesty of the Saracenic Tower and the sky suffused with the Sardinian sun make this small town both a holiday resort and a destination growing in prestige, with many villas and holiday homes overlooking the sea.
The residential zone faces the beach. It is a suntrap bordered by the Saracenic Tower to the north and the ravishing red porphyric cliffs to the south.
Far from the harbour, two majestic masses of pink porphyric granite emerge. This is the oxbow (Isolotto d’Ogliastra) which gracefully frames Santa Maria Navarrese. At dusk it confers a warm and magical atmosphere to the town, a blend of the sun’s rays reflecting on the rocks.
From Santa Maria Navarrese’s touristic marina, small and large boats leave daily to take people to our Gulf’s wonderful coves. You will go ashore at Cala Mariolu, Cala Luna and Cala Sisine, the most incredible beaches you will have ever visited and you will be amazed by the transparency of the water and the whiteness of the beaches.
In the small village of Santa Maria Navarrese you will find restaurants, pizzerias and touristic kiosks along the beach, some nightclubs and an open-air discotheque. There is also a diving centre for snorkeling and other activities such as fishing and free climbing can be done in the area.

The Golgo plateau and Margine offer enthusiastic hikers incredible paths and either challenging or easier routes between the sea and the mountains. And if you don’t want to stay on the paths to the coves, Golgo gives you the possibility of visiting pleasant archeological and natural sites.

On 15 August the village celebrates Santa Maria with a striking religious procession along the sea and a country dance in the amphitheatre.
